First, we eat. When done eating, we are taken to the gym where the junior boys are. They put on boxing gloves on us to fight, it takes about a good two hours, I don’t know how many we fight, we take turns.

This one teacher would grab the back our necks and twist the skin, she hurt us so much. Or the ruler, she would hit us on the fingers. These are the bad ones who treated us bad, white men, white ladies… how badly they abused us when we lived here at the school.

There were a lot of things going on at Old Sun School. I just hated staying here. I would hate to see some of them are that were crying, standing in the corners and then some were being strapped.

Mr. Cole caught me. He just grabbed me, lifted me up and carried me to the dormitory even though I was bawling and kicking my feet.

They were hungry and they stole some prunes. They got caught and they got into real trouble.
Rosemary Red Gun- Beaten with a Stick
He hit me with it on my arm and I thought, “there he finished hitting me.” But he hit me again on the same arm, and then, one after the other one, he kept on hitting me and then my back. I don’t know how many times he hit me with the stick on my back.
