Yvonne Stimson- Rainy Day Spent Inside

When I lived here at school, it was really raining hard and no one could play outside. So, we were all walking around in the girl’s playroom. The big girls started batting around then when I walked by, a girl named Sadie Little Light, batted. She hit me with the bat. As I was lying there, the supervisor finally noticed.

They took me to what they called the dispensary. And here, the big girls were all punished, that they weren’t supposed to be batting around inside. The one looking after me, an old lady, her name was Mrs. Gillespie, she was saying just to go to bed. The other one was said, no she can’t sleep, if you get hurt in the head, you are not supposed to sleep. So then, not too long after my head swelled up, we’ll say goose egg, my head.  It gave me a headache for a long time.
